Garlic Cough Syrup

 The mucus-cutting, antibacterial, and expectorant action of the garlic often helps eliminate coughs. Take 1 teaspoon to 1 tablespoon at a time for coughs, colds, and mucus congestion. Kids like it, too. If they balk at taking a dose of syrup, try adding several drops of orange or cinnamon oil to the blend.

1 cup honey

5 to 10 cloves garlic

Juice from 1 medium lemon

1 tablespoon sage leaf

1 tablespoon lemon peel, fresh or dried

Pour the honey into a blender. Add the garlic cloves, lemon juice, sage leaf, and lemon peel. Blend on high speed until smooth. Let the blend steep for several days away from heat. Squeeze out the liquid. Filter and bottle it for use up to one week. If you plan on storing it longer, keep in the refrigerator.
