Red Fridays

Have you noticed more and more people wearing red on Fridays? The reason?

Americans who believe in God, support our troops, and have a loyalty to country used to be called the ‘silent majority’. Now there is silence no more. Record breaking numbers are voicing their love for God, country, and troops. This is not an organized group and there are no membership fees. These are Americans who choose to consciously dress themselves in red on Fridays.

Feeling their voice in Washington is faint, these Americans will not stand by and lose their country to greed of power and money. Samuel Adams gave a speech at the Philadelphia State House on August 1, 1776:

“If you love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and kiss the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen.”

The presidency is supposed to supply leadership for those we have appointed to office. Congress has lost their respect for the presidency because of the lack of leadership. Greed of power and money has taken over the lack of leadership and congress is passing laws without our voice. Americans are offered the right to vote but the right to vote is on ballots filled with non-sense. Did you vote for the war in Iraq? Did you vote for prayer to stay in school? Did you vote for the cut in social security?

The candidates, for these offices, campaign for two years telling us what they support and what they don’t support. It is not enough to have a ballot filled with choices of the ‘lesser of two evils’. We have the right to vote for a candidate that supports the war. We have the right to vote for a candidate that doesn’t support the war. Now if we vote for the candidate who supports the war we also give 100 Alaskans 16 million dollars. And if we vote for the candidate who doesn’t support the war we send more jobs overseas. What happens when an American supports the troops, wants to have a clear plan on how to get out of the war, would like the 16 million dollars put toward social security, and have jobs available so we can pay taxes that should be directed to the deficit?   The candidates should not be telling us what they support. They should be asking us what we would like them to do once they are given the honor of office. Where are the candidate’s questions for us? The answer is simply. They don’t ask us. And we are left to wear red shirts on Fridays.
